5/31/09 06:14 pm - Long drabble: Issei and Sakura

The Haruka translation is aaaaalmost done. Today I found myself flipping back through volume 9 and I realized that I've been to the place where the Nishi no Fuda was kept! If I had remembered a little detail like that when I stumbled on and looked around Matsuotaisha, I would have been totally excited at the time. :D

[info]mippa's drabble request from this drabble meme (SPOTS STILL OPEN UNTIL JUNE).

Finished the initial Haruka translation this morning. Meant to type it up. Things were crazy instead. But at least I have a drabble!

5/27/09 12:42 am - Long drabble: Fuu and Ferio

This was my first time writing anything from MKR... or anything CLAMP, for that matter! It was surprisingly fun, though I can't even remember the series well enough to remember if there were any characters in Cephiro who had eyeglasses.

5/25/09 11:15 pm - A long drabble: Yasuaki and Eisen

Today, I translated 27 pages almost nothing but Eisen, Eisen, Eisen... only 16 pages to go! To celebrate today's accomplishment, I'm posting [info]btamamura's drabble request from this drabble meme (SPOTS STILL OPEN).

5/24/09 10:38 pm

Wrote a few drabbles last night. Apparently, for me "drabble" means something between 500 and 600 words.

Eight more pages of translation done today, I'm slogging through it. The next scene is 17 pages. Without distractions, I typically take about half an hour per page total. That feels terribly slow. At least I'e gotten faster with practice and I have an organized system for it to help me go faster, but there are so many distractions and interruptions at home. ^^;; At least now, more than 30 pages into it, we're getting a bit of the plot. It had pretty much been recaps and Eisen beating himself up until this point. I like Eisen and all, but I was so happy to finally get to the parts with Inori and Shimon because it was like there'd be a little more energy in it! x__x Sheesh! Hurry up and get to the onryou! At least now I have a better idea who she is.

Today I was asked to ask VIZ to translate the Please Save My Earth sequel, "Boku o Tsutsumu Tsuki no Hikari" (The Moonlight that Surrounds Me), but Saki Hiwatari. I personally don't need translations because I collect the Japanese tankoubon for this series, but I fear for PSME's dying English-speaking fanbase so I'm happy to get to that sometime this summer. I'm comfortable saying that PSME my favorite manga (despite how much I gush over Haruka and Yamaguchi one-shots), so I still do what I can to "spread the virus". *happy sigh* Even though Boku-Tsuki isn't quite like Boku-Tama, I still would like it to see it shared with an English-speaking audience. I just can't allow myself to feel like I have to scanlate it myself or something. >_

5/23/09 09:41 pm - Going classic

Three drabble requests still open on this entry: http://appaku.livejournal.com/132927.html

1. Finally watched Yojimbo last night with three of my brothers. Kurosawa has such an effective use of pauses and drawing some things out. I liked Sanjuro (the sequel) better, but I still enjoyed it.

1.5 Speaking of samurai, I noticed a big plastic sword at a party supply store with Japanese writing on the blade. If my friend does hold her party this year and I need to complete my pink samurai costume, I'll have to go back and get it. It said: Please drink your milk.

2. Hmmm... I'm really wanting to see the new Night at the Museum movie. I liked the first one, and the Smithsonian is a cool, cool museum. I've only seen bits and pieces of it (the natural history portion being most noteworthy) because my time in D.C. was limited, but it was huge! My advice to anyone who might go on a D.C. trip: there is a little branch of the museum dedicated to American art which is about a block away from the White House. They don't get as many visitors as the larger buildings, so the security gaurds all seemed happy to see me and my friends wander in.

3. I got ten pages of translation done today, but at a much slower pace than I had a few months ago. It's like it's all a big Eisen character study so far. That's all well and good, but it was nice to see Yorihisa and Tenma come in a bit so there would be some conversation. x_x The next scene is only eight pages, yay. But for tonight, I'm starting on drabbles!

5/21/09 09:08 pm - A numbered entry again

1. Finally watched episode 1 of Kare Kano again. JOY. It was really nice to see again. I did so love the early Kare Kano. I find I don't like Arima as much as I did when I was 13, but the early Yukino is still awesome.

2. I watched a Japanese movie called The Returner. It was pretty good. The alien plot was less than stellar, but I do have a big weakness for time-travel plots. Milly was cute and cool, I liked Miyamoto more than I thought I would, and Mizoguchi made a totally rad villian. If anything, it's worth watching just to see how Mizoguchi is played.

2.5 I also tried out a bit of Sukiyaki Western Django, which was a Japanese spaghetti Western in which all of the Japanese actors (and one American guest star) all spoke English. It was like... Heike and Genji clans fighting over gold or something. I didn't watch very much, but I enjoyed the clips I saw here and there.

3. I have a linguist internship for this summer! I start June 1st, which means I better hurry up and finish that Haruka translation. >.< I probably can't get it done before then, but I can finish this meme before then:

Ganked from [info]banditscribe

The first SEVEN people to comment in this post get to request a drabble of any pairing/character of their choosing from me, along with a prompt. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level. If you absolutely can't write, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to offer drawings or icons or something instead. Last bit ain't mandatory.

Please chose fandoms you know I know~~! We probably have at least a few favorites in common. Give me your one-word prompts!

1. For [info]mippa: Issei and Sakura from Please Save My Earth, prompt: none. Read it here!

2. For [info]banditscribe: Ferio and Fuu from Magic Knights Rayearth, prompt: eyeglasses. Read it here!

3. For [info]btamamura: Yasuaki and Eisen from Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 1, prompt: sleep. Read it here!

4. For [info]six_crazy_guys: Armadimon and Iori from Digimon 02, prompt: closet. Read it here!

5. For [info]siskinsplace: Hotohori and Miaka from Fushigi Yuugi, prompt: secret. Read it here!

1/20/07 12:28 am - Everything

Three reasons for this post.

1. Fanfiction update
Panic in Edo is finished. Praise God. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2807529/1/
Chapter 4 of Relegates is up. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3315731/1/

2. Meme

Reply to this post, and I will tell you my favorite icon of yours (and why). Then post this to your own journal using your own favorite icon.
Though I won't get back to you 'til later this week...

3. Drabble!
Title: No good answer
Series: Fushigi Yuugi
Characters: Hotohori and Miaka
Rating: G
Word count: 324
Note 1: Written earlier this week between essays. One too many "why do you like your major?" ones.
Was there anything very special about Konan? )

Ha ha ha, no, I didn't put anything like that in my essays.

7/30/06 07:34 pm - FORESHADED ANGST!!! YAY!

Two reasons for this post.

1. To show off the deflated Upamon I mentioned before. I don't know how often I'll be using it.

2. Drabbles I wrote a while ago and never posted.

Back Story: These are the characters representing the rat (Kouya) and cat (Yuya) in a story I was making to retell the original legand of the Chinese Zodiac. The bitter irony: Kouya kills Yuya towards the end of the race. The ‘race’, by the way, is a huge, national affair, not just some neighborhood thing.
Total Word Count: 305

I love these two so much. )

6/1/06 04:36 pm - Sakon drabble time! Yay!

Title: Senses
Series: Ayatsuri Sakon
Characters: Sakon, Ukon
Rating: G
Word Count: 88
Note #1: For those of you not familiar with the series, Ukon is a puppet with a personality of his own, and Sakon is his level-headed puppeteer. They're cool. You should watch that series.

It's not fair... )

5/29/06 10:11 am - *grumble*

Isn't the internet supposed to give you cheer? But nooo, I pulled it up today expecting to find amusing replies to amusing posts I made (only to find they were flat out ignored), and see an entry on my reglar friend's page that someone was ticked off at me, without really saying my name. Man, I already said I was sorry multiple times, you told me it was no problem.

And I found some uncalled for critism on something I wrote up for someone else- I had no obligation to do that, but I did for them anyway, shouldn't they be greatful? It was FINE, and probably better than the other ones you're going to get.

.....argh!!

Okay, sorry for my moaning, I'm supposed to leave that to my regular journal and only trouble you all with fandom stuff. The FUN stuff! This is my "anime is seemingly my life because it's all I post about" journal! Life can be in the other one!

So to put some point into this entry, would anyone in the digimon drabbles community who reads Panic in Edo be amused to read PiE drabbles? Not stuff you'd have to read the whole fic for to understand, but just interesting scenes for their day-to-day Edo-styled life (and they would be marked as AU, of course).

More canon, though, I watched an episode of Tamers last night for the first time in a long time. The one when Leomon died. ;_; He and Juri had a precious relationship, so it'd be fun to write a drabble from his POV about his Tamer.

Of course, I also watched some season 1 again, too- good stuff from the Dark Masters saga, my favorite one. I'm playfully reminded of one of my first fics from way back when...

Piedmon: *achoo* Ah, I turned my nose into a keychain... stupid hankerchief.

Puppetmon (after Metalseadramon uses an inappropriate word): *shaking fingers together to shame him* Ooooooh, naughtly language, naughty language, naughty... ah! I'm on fire!

And then at the end they all got into a fight and DNA digivolved into Demon. XD Ah, good old times. I wrote that when I was fresh out of the 6th grade. And now I'm a big bad daigakusei.

I don't remember what else was in that fic, it was only a page long or so. And I made a giant oekaki with them all in it, but that disappeared a long, long time ago. I think it had something to do with cupcakes? *wonders*

well, back to the point, I'd like to do some humorous Dark Master drabbles, too, and would quite likely borrow from some old humor.

5/6/06 02:04 pm - Yay! Another drabble!
