5/31/09 06:14 pm - Long drabble: Issei and Sakura

The Haruka translation is aaaaalmost done. Today I found myself flipping back through volume 9 and I realized that I've been to the place where the Nishi no Fuda was kept! If I had remembered a little detail like that when I stumbled on and looked around Matsuotaisha, I would have been totally excited at the time. :D

[info]mippa's drabble request from this drabble meme (SPOTS STILL OPEN UNTIL JUNE).

Title: Messages
Series: Please Save My Earth
Characters: Issei, Sakura
Prompt: none
Rating: G
Word count: 590

It disturbed her how undisturbed he was. )

5/24/09 10:38 pm

Wrote a few drabbles last night. Apparently, for me "drabble" means something between 500 and 600 words.

Eight more pages of translation done today, I'm slogging through it. The next scene is 17 pages. Without distractions, I typically take about half an hour per page total. That feels terribly slow. At least I'e gotten faster with practice and I have an organized system for it to help me go faster, but there are so many distractions and interruptions at home. ^^;; At least now, more than 30 pages into it, we're getting a bit of the plot. It had pretty much been recaps and Eisen beating himself up until this point. I like Eisen and all, but I was so happy to finally get to the parts with Inori and Shimon because it was like there'd be a little more energy in it! x__x Sheesh! Hurry up and get to the onryou! At least now I have a better idea who she is.

Today I was asked to ask VIZ to translate the Please Save My Earth sequel, "Boku o Tsutsumu Tsuki no Hikari" (The Moonlight that Surrounds Me), but Saki Hiwatari. I personally don't need translations because I collect the Japanese tankoubon for this series, but I fear for PSME's dying English-speaking fanbase so I'm happy to get to that sometime this summer. I'm comfortable saying that PSME my favorite manga (despite how much I gush over Haruka and Yamaguchi one-shots), so I still do what I can to "spread the virus". *happy sigh* Even though Boku-Tsuki isn't quite like Boku-Tama, I still would like it to see it shared with an English-speaking audience. I just can't allow myself to feel like I have to scanlate it myself or something. >_

5/8/09 09:54 pm - Three quick things

1. I finished Condor Hero. The ending was... okay. A thousand times better than how the anime ended. I cannot believe I'm saying this, but poor Jin Lun. Most of the good guys didn't die and I'm strangely almost disappointed.

2. [info]bishie_hotline is back!

EDIT:
3. My friend made a copy of my Please Save My Earth DVD, it worked!! I hadn't touched it in so long because it cracking, and I was so afraid because the DVD is out of print now. I watched the ending again just to be sure, and waaaaahhh!!! I love the manga to bits, sometimes I forget just how beautiful the OVA was. Certainly it lacks a lot of what the manga has, but I think it wonderfully retained the sense of nostalgia PSME is so notable for. I forgot that they summarized the ending narrated by Rin's poem. *wibble* Hiwatari doesn't get enough credit for being a poet on top of a great story-teller with a quirky sense of humor.

4/18/09 10:03 pm - You should have known this post was coming!

So! A friend and I, after having decided a year ago to do this, spent a night rewatching all of Arjuna since it had been over four years since either of us had seen it.

But first let me say that I had to watch Afro Samurai yesterday as part of a class. I surprised myself, I actually enjoyed a lot of it, though I don't plan on watching any more. What I'm not enjoying right now is that I have a long rough draft to print out and Word keeps freezing when I try to change the settings so it prints single sided. -__-;

Anyway, Arjuna. It was really, really nice to rewatch it. I love the random inserts and reviews (kyoooou mo genki ni APPARE GENKI!!) and the atmosphere of that series. :D I remembered most of it pretty well, but silly me, I completely forgot about all that stuff with Chris and the ancient ruins. XD For some reason I always remembered him as being in his chair and just flying off a lot to go scold Juna.

Anyway, I really appreciated while watching this how typical Tokio and Juna and even Sayuri's family seemed. If you put normal people in outrageous situations like that, I'm not surprised that they would develop like that, particularly Juna.

Now, as a disclaimer, I know what kind of message the director was trying to send with this. ^^; While I do thoughtfully consider a lot of what he has to say, I certainly don't buy into a lot of it. (Why? Because that's easy. I had forgotten about the math teacher...). But after taking biology classes and understanding a little bit more about Hinduism and actually dealing the economics of environmental issues and... *snerk* having three sessions with a biofeedback therapist, I had been eager to see it again simply because I'd understand a lot more of it now.

I'm really glad I recommended Arjuna to my biofeedback therapist when I was 16, though. It seemed right up his alley at the time (and he seemed very eager to find it when I mentioned it to him), but upon rewatching it, I noticed that they addressed a couple of the EXACT pseudoscience type things he had preached to me. XDDDD Ahahaha. Fun memories. I liked the guy and found some merit in what he said, and he sincerely wanted to help me with my migraines and biofeedback was a pretty cool experience, my mom and I could never look at each other during the sessions or we'd burst out laughing. We felt really bad about that and didn't want to insult him, but he was a pretty good-natured guy and said we had good auras. I liked him and hope that he did eventually watch Arjuna.

I will admit that I did like how he could theme such an atmosphered anime around the digestive system, though. It's such a hippy anime to begin with, but who would have expect that? Oh, but not all of the visuals are as nice as I remember them being. ^^; The soundtrack is still my favorite anime set of vocals and BGM. (Yoko Kanno and Maaya Sakamoto for the win.) Some of the visuals are still as lovely as I remember them, such as the motorcycle scene in the first episode.

I glad I still enjoyed it and felt like paying attention to it. ^__^ Lately I've been getting bored with anime pretty fast, so I'm glad I felt griped again for the whole series. That, and it does have some worthy messages to take to heart.

Aaaaaand my friend might be able to back my Please Save My Earth DVD, I'm so happy! :D It was breaking, which was scaring me because it's out of print now (it doesn't get enough fandom! *sob*). I'll bet my friend's husband thinks I'm a total tree-hugger. ^^; He made it rather evident that he dislikes Arjuna (which made it awkward to watch the first few episodes while he was around, eh heh...), and then the next morning with all the "Please Save My Earth is my favorite OVA!" stuff... hahahah. It's funny that PSME sounds like such an environmentally conscious title, while although it does have those themes, it's more about war and shoujo drama. ^^;

Microsoft Word is still freezing up. -___-;

4/17/09 02:35 pm - Because it's like all I do is memes lately

The Stolen Meme: Write down 20 things that your f-list (probably) doesn't know about you.

1. I feel odd wearing skirts, but I love doing pretty things with my hair and keeping long nails.

2. If no one is watching, I dance while sitting at my computer. Not that anyone would want to see my poor dancing skills even while standing up.

3. A friend got mad about me two months ago and called me an anime elitist. I'm not as much of one as I used to think I was, but she made me feel so bad that I still feel guilty for maybe having sounded mean towards anyone.

4. I can sing along to songs I have not heard since I was 13 or 14.

5. I still daydream almost every day of going to Japan to write manga under a Japanese pen name. I debate between whether it should be "Takada Ruri" or "Taka Ruri".

6. My first Japanese pen pal was an artist who I looked up to on Oekaki Central. We have lost contact, but it's thanks to her that I got interested in Please Save My Earth.

7. I've talked with a driving instructor about Please Save My Earth, which surprised us both.

8. I can identify a lot of flowers in both English and Japanese because of Please Save My Earth.

9. I used to auction my art off for Pocky.

10. I love dark chocolate with pretzels, orange flavoring, mint flavoring, lime flavoring, green tea flavoring, white chocolate bark, strawberries, certain cereals, fancy cookies, other candies, almonds...

11. My older sister still calls me "Tohru" years after it's lost its Fruits Basket ties for us.

12. I've had an EEG scan, an MRI scan, an EKG, blood tests, and biofeedback therapy to try to help me with my migraines. I quit with the treatment four years ago when a neurologist tried to give Botox injections. Crazy man.

13. I used to get teased for my poor sense of direction. That made me so embarrassed that I decided to have a better sense of direction. It worked.

14. My mom didn't let me watch Sailor Moon when I was kid.

15. I have better vision than 20/20, but on a recent test I took, I had surprisingly poor depth perception.

16. When I was a baby, I learned to walk by clinging to the family dog. She was a patient dog.

17. I love sitting in trees!

18. I currently work as a telemarketer. Well, that's only half true. A true telemarketer would try to sell you something and then get your money. I only do half of that.

19. I used to work as a secretary. I hated that job and only found out several months later that a coworker actually had been sabotaging some of the things that went wrong.

20. I can swim, but I dislike swimming because I dislike being wet.

*procrastinating on a couple theses, even though the samurai one is almost done~~~*
*is going to make a night of rewatching Arjuna for the first time in five years instead~~~*
*is very happy about that~~~!!*

4/6/09 06:10 pm - Stress

I think I'm going through Boku-Chikyuu withdrawal.

Jeez, I wish I would have brought my PSME manga with me this semester... ;__; Not that I need the extra distraction. I keep having images of Mokuren or Rin pop in my head and the other day on the way to work I found a blooming magnolia tree in a neglected parking lot and had a total Alice moment.

I just... ahhh. I should have brought it so I could at least spread the virus and have more people to talk about it with.

And speaking of favorite manga I didn't take with me, I love seeing Mizuno-sensei do things from other Haruka series, but... I want to see the series I'm collecting get finished! ;___; *waiting*

In totally unrelated news, I think I'm addicted to this song lately. Too bad I don't know where to find C-pop lyrics and google searches weren't helpful.

1/3/09 07:34 pm - A little retreat to my fandom

Somebody be proud of me. I'm not bringing my manga with me to my dorm this semester.

Or at least, not much of it. I'm only bringing a couple I got in Japan, and my two Haruka fanbooks to make up for not bring the Haruka manga with me. And... I'll just have to be sad without Please Save My Earth.

Still, I think I belong in Cephiro. As I was packing, I found myself thinking "if I have enough willpower, this box will fit in the suitcase alongside my stack of books!". At the expense of a little injury, my willpower won. Still, I am not all that happy about having to go back so soon and pay for my bags to get them through the airport with me. Grr. Why am I not still in Japan!? Why didn't I just go to a local college?!?

Oh. Because I have an ego and wanted to try out something in a different part of the country. Riiiight. At least the trip back from Japan was so fraught with problems that the airline gave me three different coupons for future travel. I don't think they realized that they gave me three different ones. Oh well, sssshhh. They will be used on three different flights later this year.

In the meantime... aaarrrrrrrgaaghhhhhh!!! I don't feel like going back yet! Packing is making me sick today. At least I had some Hysteric Blue to listen to. Sometimes I forget how much I love that nearly-nonexistant-thanks-to-Sony band.

11/25/08 12:21 pm - Because I'm a hopeless PSME dork

I accidentally read three volumes of the Please Save My Earth Sequel, Boku o Tsutsumu Tsuki no Hikari this weekend. Seeing as I think there are only 6 volumes so far, well... that's half the series.

A little back story is probably unnecessary:
1. PSME/Boku no Chikyuu o Mamotte/Boku-Tama is AWESOME and one of my favorite manga ever, if not number 1.
2. Boku-Tsuki is the sequel written roughly twenty years later, and set 16 years after Boku-Tama.
3. There was a short one-shot about one of the characters, Mikuro, written in 2001. I will be referring to that in this entry as well.

First might I say that volume 6 was very exciting and I read it all in one sitting because the suspense was too good.

SPOILERS! Should anyone ever read it... )

Mippa, there was more Issei/Sakura stuff in volume 6! Did you get the folder I sent you from volume 5? If you want images from volume 6, I can get around to sending them at some point.

11/7/08 01:52 pm - Talking about Japan now

So... I'm enough of a dork that my reasons for going to many spots aren't so much because they're simply famous, but because I've seen them in anime or they have to do with historical periods I like.

So I have my list thus far of places I've been and why, and then I'll happily take my F-list's suggestions for places in Japan that I might go that were settings in anime you know I like. Italicized ones are ones I'm already planning on going to or might go to.

Heian related places
Heian Jingu
Arashiyama (did the Juuni Hitoe!)
Uji (saw Byoudouin and the Genji Monogatari Museum)
The Imperial Palace
Seimei Jinja (As in Abe no Seimei)

Edo, Samurai related places
Toyokawa Edo Museum
Nijo Castle
Gifu Castle
Osaka Castle park & nearby shrine I'm forgetting the name of
Sekigahara
An Ukiyo-e exhibit

Meiji related places
Meiji Jingu
Some Shinsengumi spots in Kyoto? Although this would count more as Peace Maker Kurogane dorkdom than Meiji dorkdom

And the funner side of things:

Anime/Manga Settings
Iga Ueno (Tsuki no Shippo/Tail of the Moon)
Hiroshima (Kamichu, Asagiri no Miko)
Tokyo Metropolitan Building (X, Digimon Tamers, probably others)
Shibuya (ChoGALS)
Odaiba: Fuji TV Station, the harbor (Digimon Adventure! <3)
Tokyo Tower (Please Save My Earth(!), Digimon, Magic Knights Rayearth, ext.)

As far as Tokyo's concerned, I had also wanted to go to Ueno Zoo just because that's the zoo Alice and Rin went to in Please Save My Earth. XD *dork* That's also the zoo they went to in the Hana Yori Dango live action drama. Also, I have no idea where the National Library would be, so I probably can't go looking for the Universe of the Four Gods. ^^;; Too bad I won't have much time in Tokyo.

I also want to have another excuse to go back to Osaka, as I've only gone once but did a lot of stuff. I want to go back and find an anime goods store (I want more Haruka goods!), but I don't want to go for that reason alone...

10/25/08 11:41 pm - Nostalgia....

Yes another update to say how much I love my two favorite manga. I love how scenes from Please Save My Earth will just pop into my head and make me swoon all over again. It’s such a wonderful, wonderful story, and the OVA, although just a very pretty commercial for the manga, will hold a special place in my heart forever.

More so, however, I’ve been craving Haruka all the time. I really want to go to an anime goods store again at some point and just get Haruka things.

I did, however, buy the novel that just came out recently. It’s got a few shorts stories written by someone else, but there are some illustrations done by Mizuno-sensei. I think more so than I’m a Haruka fan I’m a fan of Mizuno-sensei and want to have a copy of every work she does. She is like my ideal shoujo manga artist.

Anyway, I only flipped through that and will put off reading it until I’m back in the US so I have something to read in Japanese. I really want to find out what the heck is going on with Tenma and Yasuaki in one of those first illustrations, though… *giggle*

It looks like the first story is Akane-Yasuaki-Tenma centric and has more of the romantic tension kind of feel while still being silly. The second seems to be a more serious story with Eisen as a focus, and lots of Inori as well. The third seems like a totally goofy story about Takamichi, Yorihisa and a kitten.

Anyway, I’ll post more on that in a few months or so.

Uwaahhh… I miss Please Save My Earth. It’s nice that I can follow the sequel, but it’s so different!! And I get all defensive about Shion’s character seeming different in his dealings with Rin… which is really funny to come out and say “Hiwatari-sensei, you got your own character wrong!”. Alice feels different, too, since she’s an adult now and not our good old Alice. I do like that Hajime has gotten to be a bit more bitter, though. Uwaaaghh, I wish they’d have Haruhiko do a bit more, as I was really intrigued by his role in the first volume. It’s funny to think of how much I hated Haruhiko for so long but now wish he could a main character again. ;__;

I’ve been getting sudden cravings to watch Kodocha, too.

9/19/08 11:35 am - Maybe it's the weather

...for some reason I'm feeling sad right now.

On an up note, I found some of the manga I had been looking for~~! It was a store for new books so it was a little more expensive than Book-Off (of course), but they only had a few volumes of Haruka which I already had. I shall find you yet, volume 14 (and 15??)!

They did have volumes 4 & 5 of Boku o Tsutsumu Tsuki no Hikari, the Please Save My Earth sequel. Granted, it's been so many years since she finished PSME that this feel very, very different. It feels very different, and have been increasingly so feeling different, and her art style she has now sometimes bugs the heck out of me. But I'm such a big fan of the original that I really can't stand not to read it. Plus, I do love Ren & friends, and hearing anything else about Mikuro is increasingly interesting. I flipped through these volumes a bit and got some spoilers and yipes, I love Madoka-chan! Sometimes it feels like she should bug me, but I like that there's those negative aspects of her character that are quite likeable (I guess I like a little precosiousness?), instead of her being little-miss-spawn-of-Miyazawa-and-Arima-stupid-stupid-Kare-Kano-ending. Also, Sakura & Issei were in volume five more, I had been wondering about them. X3 It's sooo cute that they're still the same and girly together.

Also got volume 5 of Tenkuuseiryuu, that Miyuki Yamaguchi series I'm following. I have quite a weakness for her art, even though I've had more trouble getting into this story. Some of the new character designs she's introducing in this one are just so... ahhh!! They're like stereotypes at their core, although not frequently used ones, but they're still so much more interesting and unique than other manga characters. I love that her characters can all stand to have different faces instead of just face-types!!

Manga, I <3 you.

9/14/08 05:17 pm - I LOVE BOOK-OFF

105 yen for a manga? I can totally work with that. Still, I'm not in Japan to buy manga. That's just a plus.

I've spend about 600 yen so far on three books, none of which starting entirely new fandoms which would require my buying more. First, a Miyuki Yamaguchi oneshot, because I love her. Second, a very recent Tsuda Masami oneshot. She was the first manga-ka I ever became a fan of, and granted I got very, very tired of Kare Kano by the end of it, I still have a Tsuda-nostalgia. I love the Tsuda alien.

Speaking of, today I noticed a more recent series of hers: Eensy Weensy Monster.

And of course, the monster looks like the Tsuda alien. XDD Still, I didn't feel like buying it, so... still, it looked a little more interesting than the end of Kare Kano was. The oneshot I got, "Nostalgia", has four stories in it, satisfyingly dark/out there stuff and satisfying high school amusingness.

Since these are used books I haven't seen any recent volumes of anything I'm collecting, but today I did get the Harukanaru Toki no Naka de Fan Book for 300 yen. *beams* It's a little dated, but man, I LOVE HARUKA.

A lot.

The manga, anyway.

Another nice thing about Book-Off is that everyone is flipping through books they don't intend to buy, so I don't feel bad about it. Therefore, I got to flip through a bunch of Please Save My Earth to see how certain things were written in the original Japanese (and just because I love it), and I saw the Spiral ending (not all that interesting), as well as saw what's up in Gakuen Alice. Kyaaaaa!!! Mikaaan! Narumi-senseeeeiii!! I must see volume 17 when it comes out!! Is it already out? Kyaaaaaa!!!

Ah hem. Anyway. Book-Off is good. On another note, Anpanman. He's everywhere. o_o;;

8/14/08 10:43 pm - Gonna be a star

Aw, shoot. Getting into a relatively long, addictive shoujo manga was not I what I needed right now.

But I tend to have no resistance when someone says the character in something reminds them of me in anyway. Thus, I started reading Skip Beat yesterday, and am now five volumes into it. Just, that is besides being as work all day!

I am enjoying this far more than I thought I would~! And yes, while I don't see a total match, I can see where my friend got off saying Kyouko reminded her of me. I love the 'makenai' characters, especially the ones that aren't 100%-zettai-makenai.

It's not the best manga I've read, and I do get a little tired of the constant show-biz manga and orphan-ished characters, but it is enjoyable. I read all of W-Juliet but didn't get nearly as into it as other people did. Skip Beat is a little bit funner to me, because despite that I ship Tsuru-Kyou, it's just a thousand times more interesting because it's more about hatred than romance (subject to change, of course, I can tell).

I hope, at some point while I'm in Japan, I can afford a trip to Tokyo again. Just a weekend trip would be fine. I just need to see Tokyo Tower, because that's where the final action scene of Please Save My Earth was set, and the Magic Knights got taken to Cephiro, ext, and I have to see the Fuji TV station in Odaiba because that's where the digidestined destroyed Myotismon (the first time, anyway). Plus, there's this "Ooedo Onsen Monogatari" place that looks awesome. That will keep me motivated for these last few days at work.

5/31/08 10:53 pm - So close! The end of MayFic08

I would have just gotten my total, but I don't have my word count for the 22nd handy... -___-;; and I already put my laptop to sleep and my nephew is already asleep in there, so I don't want to go wake him up by bringing the document up again. I think I was writing about Kohei that day, so it had to have been at least 1000 words... I think. And I was so hoping to have my totals tallied tonight!

For now, I can say that the untitled Keisuke and Tetsuya (and Tenkou and Nyan-Nyan and Suzaku warriors!) fic has 20426 words on it that I wrote this month, although the first couple days worth were in 3rd person and then I switched to 1st person, so it'll be weird if I don't fix it but it came out alright so I don't know if I want to.

The untitled Please Save My Earth fic, which I think once I got home I spent more time reading for than actually writing, has at least 19442 words, but probably more like 20442 (that would make both fics about equal~!). As I was reading, though, I kept thinking "I can't wait for June so I can go correct that detail!"

So that makes it roughly 40,000 words this month combined. Woot. It would have been more, too, if I didn't have those 15-word and 33-word days and those four days I took off last/this week... but I was polishing off an unfinished piece of fanart for two of those days, so I don't feel guilty because my creativity was still getting a work out.

---

EDIT, Official count: 41657 words!
21231 on the PSME fic, 20426 on the Keisuke & Tetsuya fic. Now if only I could think of titles...

Final numbers coming tomorrow...

5/16/08 07:32 pm - Why do I have no PSME icons!?

Aaaauuuughhhhh!!!!! *squeeeeeeaaaaallll*

I still love PSME sooooooo much. Just ahhhhhhh!!!!! >_____________<

BTW, Mippa, I'm still so happy you found those books for me. It'd have been impossible for me to have found them on my own. Even while I was in Japan for a couple weeks, all I saw was the first two volumes of Tenkuuseiryuu.

---

Speaking of manga I want, I want volumes 4 & 5 of Boku o Tsutsumu Tsuki no Hikari (my online bookstore only has 5, not 4!), I want volumes 14 & 15 of Haruka (though apparently 15 still isn't out), and more of Tenkuuseiryuu, whenever that comes!! I'm still collecting Aa Itoshii no Banchou-sama, too, but not as actively. I just love Katou-kun, but I'm not into the plot enough to be eager for more. Too silly, I guess. ^^;; I'm way more a fan of stories that mix serious drama, lovable and intense characters, and still mix in a healthy does of silliness. Which is why PSME is perfect for me.

Of course, the art style really makes a good manga for me, too. *cough*

The rambling ends now. And eventually I'll update my word counts, but I have indeed been keeping track and writing everyday!

3/19/08 02:44 pm - Well, that's cracky.

Now that I'm finished writing Split Loyalties (although it sure could stand some editing) and I'm so pleased that it didn't turn into a giant conclusion for the last few chapters and actually had surprises all the way through which actually worked together more nicer than I thought they would, I thought maybe I should write something short and cracky, like the one about Nuriko, Chiriko, and Mitsukake making a band. But I keep getting more serious ideas, such as the Tomo/twins ones I mentioned last week.

I've also been playing with a Juuni Kokki idea, which *gasp* Would be focused on OCs!?!? I... I just do not do that in fanfiction!! But I liked where I was going with it, though it was growing more and more dark the more I thought about it.

But I guess my need for a weird idea was satisfied. I was writing "Kobayashi Rin" by a little doodle, but accidently wrote the kanji for Mitsukake's name instead of Rin's. So... Kobayashi Mistukake was a horrible idea right away. But it could work!! In Eikoden, Mitsukake was already much younger than Shouka's reincarnation, and he likes cats, and he lost Shouka before to a kind of disease... yeah, I should stop right here.

-----

And while it doesn't bother me much, I figured I'd spread the word for people who care strongly about it: Friday March 21 LJ strike )

That's Good Friday, so I'd rather consider it an "LJ fast". ^^

2/13/08 07:33 pm - Thank you, Miss Hiwatari

I am in such an immensely better mood now than I was was earlier today. Some plans got tossed around and I was feeling like crap, so I retreated to my room and found some scanlations of short Saki Hiwatari manga.

The EPIA is going to take me away!! )

Seriously, Hiwatari is so good at writing about ESPers. I wish I could think in that much detail about stuff, and I really really wish that she'd tell us more of Mikuro's story, that apparently was original conceived when she was in middle school... what... 30, 35 years ago?

OHH!! And Sasuga has volume 5 of Boku-Tsuki available!!! :D But... where is volume 4? Or 3, for that matter, but I already found that one in Japan. Mooouuuu, I want them to hurry up and put up volume 4 so I can order it was 5 and volume 14 of Haruka so I feel like I have a big enough order to make it worth it. Come on, Sasuga!

Speaking of Haruka, I have a big dating-sim rant coming up, regarding Haruka 4 and the new FY game.

10/16/07 05:14 pm - Bad subconscious, BAD

I've got it.

Something was bothering me about the one scene in Farewell my Concubine in which Dieyi is wearing those round, thick framed glasses. He reminded me of someone... who else did I know in those glasses?

ISSEI!

In one of the earlier volumes of Please Save My Earth, there is one single scene of Issei is round, thick framed glasses. Isn't it strange how similar Issei and Dieyi are anyway? This bad, bad crossover works thus:

Dieyi Cheng: Issei Nishikiori
Xiaolou Duan: Jinpachi Ogura
The King of Chu: Gyokuran
Concubine Yu: Enju

That works frighteningly too well, except for Gyokuran's feelings towards Enju.

10/8/07 04:52 pm - Bokutama-Bokutsuki

Yes, I'm still on a Please Save My Earth high. The song used the Enju AMV has been like a drug for me. And I'm really into the past incarnations right now versus the present ones.

But then I started thinking about the future... specifically Boku o Tsutsumu Tsuki no Hikari, the sequel.

SPOILERS for Bokutsuki and later half of Bokutama )

You can see how difficult it would be to figure something like that out. In an ideal world, we'd get to see the spawn of Shion and Mokuren, but alas, they were both born in anything but an ideal world.

10/8/07 10:07 am - Why don't I have any Bokutama icons? Hhmm.

I've been on a big PSME kick this past week. Last night I had a dream about it and knew that something was off, but it didn't come back to me until this morning (during class, which was completely unrelated to the content of the dream). I had some Juuni Kokki on the brain too, I guess.

Basically, Kiche=Kirin. That sounds so totally reasonable in many ways: Pure beings with special power, rare, kept aloof from average society, importance on the forehead, generally beautiful creatures, raised by nun-like servants in a paradise-like place, and it helps that Mokuren was blonde.

And yet, in other ways, you just don't want to see that work at all.

Mokuren: *bows before Shion* I swear my loyalty to you, the King of KK!
Shion: WTF?

Ohhh, in many ways that would be wrong and not do justice to either PSME or Juuni Kokki. I love both these series too much to even attempt a crossover because the general tones of each of them are so different.
